Portsmouth Fc were founded in 1898. Pompey are the current holders of the FA Cup, its only major honour that they have won. Last season Portsmouth were tryng to finish inside the top six in the table so that they could be playing in the UEFA cup next year but the only managed to finish in 8th place in the end. Still it was a really good season for them, but next season they will be looking to carry on the same and this time finsih in the top six to get into the UEFA cup for the 2009-10 season.

The stadium has an all-seated capacity of 60,355,[2] making it the second largest stadium in the Premier League after Old Trafford, and the third-largest stadium of any kind in London, after Wembley and Twickenham. During the planning and construction stages, it was known as Ashburton Grove before a naming rights deal with the airline Emirates was struck in October 2004. The stadium project cost �430 million, but not all was for the actual construction of the stadium itself.
