Sunderland were founded in 1879, they play in the Premier League and are a fairly successful club in English football, having won six First Division titles and two FA Cups. They moved to the Stadium of Light in 1997 after 99 years at Roker Park. In October 2007 Sunderland fans were voted the loudest supporters in the Premier League following a survey taken from inside every stadium. Last year wasn't really one of there better years as they ended up in 15th place, and they wernt to far from relegation. They have a long-standing rivalry with local team Newcastle United. The Tyne-Wear derby has been contested since 1898.
The Stadium of Light is a football stadium in Sunderland, North East England which opened in 1997. The 49,000-seater stadium is the home of Sunderland A.F.C, in England. It is widely regarded as one of the best stadia in the country. In the 07/08 season survey, the Stadium of Light was recognised as the loudest in the country. It is the 3rd time the stadium has won this award. The stadium has also hosted two full England international games and currently hosts the graduation ceremonies of the University of Sunderland.
